Warning: Possible Trend Spotted!

Attention Upstarters: there may or may not be a trend brewing in the tech scene right now whereby old-school email domains are making a comeback. Exhibit A:  This column from Politico detailing the power-players that can still be reached via their AOL accounts. Media elite such as Arianna Huffington and Matt Drudge are among them, perhaps refusing to move on to Gmail because they’re in soooo many people’s address books, they’d be doing everyone a disservice to switch.

Exhibit B: The party for the aforementioned (link to Startup Weekend post) Startup Weekend. While chatting with a group of Microsoft folks, I learned that Hotmail is still around. “Wait,” said a hipster girl eavesdropping nearby. “I can still get a Hotmail account? Sweet!” Sweet?

Ok so that’s only two exhibits. But be warned, you may want to dig up that old Prodigy account and have it on standby, just in case this trend turns out to be a fad.
