Big, flashy things get the big news. “Check out this herp derp 1080i screen with 2.5 gigawhatsits of power derp!” cry the fanboys. But the big things don’t always work out, it’s the good, cheap things — like a good taco at 2am — that really get us to pull out our wallets.
Take the sub-$200 bombs Amazon just unleashed. There’s the Fire. Doesn’t have GPS, or a camera, or a big harddrive. Who cares. It’s less than $200, and will fill that niche, you know, where people just want to be entertained. And then, oh Lord, there’s the $79 Kindle. For the price of a one really expensive coffee table book, you can get a device that can carry all the books. Think about it.
And then tell us what you think. You gettin’ the new Kindles?blog comments powered by Disqus
