The Wirecutter

Brian Lam, former Gizmodo editor-in-chief, knows a thing or two about tech. And cool. If I were his buddy, I’d definitely ping him next time I needed to know what cool device to drop my bonus on.

Short of having Lam on your speed dial, his new project, The Wirecutter is the next best thing. It’s sort of a blog, sort of a review site. Reading Brian’s note, we see that he basically wanted to cut through the crap and get to what’s important. In short, The Wirecutter is Brian’s personal recommendations on what to get for specific tech niches. “What DSLR should I get on a budget?” Brian’s The Wirecutter knows. “What wi-fi router out of the thousands staring at me at Fry’s should I get?” Brian knows. “What’s the best bet for external hard drives?” Ask The Wirecutter.

Right now it’s basically a short, techie shopping list, but perhaps soon we’ll start getting tips on the best start-ups to follow, or the best source for tech news. Well, that one’s easy.
