No matter what city you live in, it’s likely you have at least one daily deal website catering to your area. Unfortunately, with so many sites offering so many deals, they aren’t all expertly vetted—especially when it comes to food. Blackboard Eats has popped up as a niche site for discriminating consumers of culture and dare I say… ‘foodies’ who want an impeccable meal along with a good deal.
CEO Maggie Nemser says “BlackboardEats is comprised of expert food editors who, through a lengthy vetting process, pick top restaurants to review and feature so long as they offer something valuable to our subscribers…Right before we run a piece, we send critics in anonymously to review the restaurant and if something has changed for the worse or fallen off, we pull the feature and do not run the review.” The discounts vary with a particular discount passcode, but the gift certificate with minimum purchase and the $10 reservation charges do not apply like with competitor sites. Blackboard Eats is now available in Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York.
