Where Do Baby (Carrots) Come From?

Image via Youtube

At some point I realized baby carrots were not actually a different varietal of the carrot species. This lead to more unanswered questions: Do they take regular carrots sticks and lathe the ends and sides to make them smooth and rounded? If that were true wouldn’t it waste carrots?

Thank You Prouducepedia for stepping in and alleviating my worries. Producepedia is a fascinating resource for random produce facts, many of which you never even knew could exist: “Every strawberry, no matter the size, has around 200 seeds.” Their 52 second carrot processing video explains the basics and proves that baby carrots do not come from “baby” carrots. And like the “–pedia” suffix implies, the carrot is just the beginning of the fruit and veggie knowledge to be had!
