SXSW Accelerator

Foursquare, Twitter, and Foodspotting are some of the top examples of startups who managed to gain a huge amount of traction thanks to the whirlwind tech frenzy that is SXSW Interactive. But even early-stage startups, including those still in private beta, can benefit from exposure in Austin. The SXSW Accelerator competition exposes these companies to the media, VC’s, and expert advice they need, while they compete for the top prize. Storify, last year’s winner, made Time magazine’s Top 50 Websites of 2011.
The 48 finalists have been announced, and I’ve already got my eye on a couple of contenders:
Geekli.st—Pioneering a standardized, fun platform for developers all over the world to demonstrate their abilities in ways that résumés just can’t quantify.
Foreca.st— A simple way to make your social plans public. As they put it: “a check-in tells your friends where you are now. A forecast tell friends where you will be later.”
And those are just the companies that end in “.st.” Who do you think will win the top prize at SXSW this year? Tell us below or hit us up @WIREDInsider.
