GAMING YOUR SYSTEM

There’s no hotter tech trend than gamification, and some of the top minds in that movement have long espoused its potential beyond Foursquare and SCVNGR. Now some of those megaminds are putting their money where there mouths are with SuperBetter Labs, a design studio that aims to integrate science, design, and fun in order to help people become their optimum selves.

Perhaps the most notable name behind SuperBetter is Jane McGonigal, the world-renowned game designer you probably recognize from her 2010 TED talk. At a recent event in San Francisco, Ms. McGonigal discussed her recovery from a concussion, in which she invented a game in order to help focus her healing process. This became part of the impetus for SuperBetter, which hopes to develop revolutionary treatment approaches for everything from weight loss to depression. I couldn’t add SuperBetter to my twitter feed fast enough; definitely worth a follow as they move through closed beta.

What do you think of gamification? Do you use foursquare or SCVNGR? Tell us below or @WIREDInsider.
