Watch out Instagram. There’s a new iPhone photo app on the block. It’s called SpinCam and it lets you take and share photos that are sort of like a panoramic image meets a video. The 360-degree shots are interactive in that you can scroll left or right to view all angles of the photo (which makes for a great “Matrix” shot).
But it’s not just a still image. If you do a “spin” of yourself (literally just hold your phone to your face and spin around), it will capture the changing background and your changing facial expressions. Kinda creepy! Here’s my first SpinCam shot. Watch the cars, bikes, and people move!
While recreating fight scenes is amazing, I can see this app creating some great wedding photos of the bride and groom (First dance! Kiss shot! In-the-moment proposal shot!), amazing travel pics, and maybe even product images for retail sites. SpinCam allows customers to take your product for a “spin” before they buy it!
What do you think of SpinCam? Does it have the potential to replace Instagram or is it a completely different photo-sharing app? Tell us below or @WIREDInsider.blog comments powered by Disqus
