AN OPEN LETTER TO MY HERMAN MILLER CHAIR

Dear Herman Miller Aeron Chair,
Last month, I moved out of an office populated with chairs of your kind, and into one populated with these plastic things from Ikea. I know now that I took you for granted. I miss you deeply, and want you to come back. The chair I sit in now is woefully unsuited for the task of supporting me all day long. It’s sturdy, yes, but also rigid and, by the end of the day, painful. I slouch in it.
I miss your armrests. I miss your breathable, stretchy fabric. I miss all of your adjustable controls, so easy to use they were like keyboard shortcuts you could operate subconsciously. I miss the way you always made sure I had good posture. Please come back, Herman Miller Aeron Chair. I’ll treat you right this time.
