BREATH RIGHT

On last week’s episode of Adventure Capitalist, we talked about proper form for runners. This week we’ll take a quick look at the other side of that coin: proper breathing technique. According to the Livestrong website, there are a few different things to keep in mind if you want to get your breathing right while running. The easiest is to measure your breath by steps, inhaling over two or three steps, then exhaling over another two or three. Doing it to the beat of whatever music you’re listening to is a good way to get in a rhythm. It’s also natural to increase the breathing ratio as you get closer to the end of your run, as this military site suggests.

The hardest part is breathing with your diaphragm. Livestrong says your stomach should contract out when you exhale, which is easier said then done.  But I’m going to keep practicing, because the last thing I want to do is let Lance Armstrong down.
