SINGLE ORIGIN COFFEE

Globalization and technology have vastly impacted coffee in ways you can taste and savor. If coffee seems like it hasn’t changed, aside from all the cultural changes surrounding Starbucks or Peets, this is false. The beans available are objectively better than they were 20 years ago.

Ecco Caffe in Santa Rosa, CA sources, roasts, and sends you beans. This doesn’t sound intriguing until you find out that they seek out single origin coffees and their roasters go to the origin (as opposed to sending buyers like most companies). If that’s not enough, once you place an order for beans online they roast them within 24 hours, so your beans are as fresh roasted as is humanly possible. It’s no wonder some call them the best beans in the US.

George Howell’s Terroir in Acton, MA has revolutionized the way coffee is bought and sold, and therefore produced, to maximize quality. As stated on their website: “We believe that one should not blend truly fine coffees, just like one does not blend fine wines, because they are already complete statements.” This is meant to encourage growers to produce single-origin high quality products, instead of large volumes for mass profit, as was previously understood.
