For Bear Grylls lovers, Survivor super fans, and Hunger Games wannabes: it doesn’t get much more badass than this. Based on the US Army Survival Manual: FM 21-76 (pick up a copy on Amazon), Survival Guide is a free app filled with 19 chapters of life-saving goodness.
Learn about everything from building shelters and poisonous plants to killing devices and venomous snakes. A chapter is dedicated to each dangerous environment you’ve seen Survivor contestants and Hunger Games characters compete in: desert, tropical jungle, and sea (bonus: cold weather!). When you find yourself wounded, starving, homeless, and with a smart phone (don’t worry, it’s available offline), you’ll be ready to take on nature. Unfortunately, there’s no chapter on how to generate a charge for an iPhone…
