THE BEER THAT STARTUP PEOPLE CHOOSE

If you’re a startup and you’re throwing a party this summer, consider procuring a few cases of Churchkey beer. “Sacrilege,” you’re saying. “Startup parties feature local craft beers and DJ’s and stylish shoes. Get out of here with your pilsner cans.” I hear you, but here’s the deal: it may not look like it, but in a way, Churckey is a tech startup.

Cofounded by the technically inclined Adrian Grenier, and cofunded by the VC firm CrunchFund, Churchkey Can Co.’s hook is that the cans are old-school flattops, which require a church key to get ‘em open. Dubbed “the Instagram of beers” by Mens Journal, Churchkey recently launched in San Francisco at a party filled with the who’s who of the startup community. So what if Kevin Rose doesn’t show up to your party this summer? At least you can serve the beer he drinks.
