EXTREME VACATIONING: SPACE TRAVEL EDITION

Although NASA’s final shuttle mission is complete, space tourism seems to be reaching for the stars. From private flights to recycled rockets, astronaut wannabes can pay their way to success. This brings a whole new definition to the word honeymoon.
One company hopes to refurbish Russian spacecrafts into moon-bound tourist vessels. It will take more than two years to develop the technology needed to update the two former space stations and three-person capsules the company already owns, but they expect to easily sell 29 tickets over the next 10 years. The price per person? $150 million.
That makes a seat on a Richard Branson-owned Virgin Galactic flight look affordable at only $200,000. There’s even a group discount–a private charter for you and five friends at a cool $1 million.
