THE WAR FOR COMPUTER GLASSES

Google swears wearable computing is the future and has tried to prove it with Project Glass, but we probably won’t see computer glasses until 2014–unless Olympus beats Google.

The prototype from the Japanese arm of Olympus is their third attempt at wearable computing since 2005. While the device looks similar to Google’s version, Olympus’ prototype connects via Bluetooth to a user’s smart phone – a feature Google Glass is lacking. Funny enough, Olympus – a camera company – decided to forgo the inclusion of a camera, a feature Google has been showing off excessively.

Who will hit the market first? Is wearable computing really a necessity? Would you prefer a watch over glasses? Read more over at WIRED’s Gadget Lab then comment below or tweet us @WIREDInsider.
