There comes a time when every city slicker looks up at a smog-smeared moon and hears the wind-sharp call of the wild. But since actually living as our ancestors did is actually a bit inconvenient, not to mention a bit terrifying, capitalism again offers an excellent method of sublimating our baser instincts. Check out these lovely axes curated by yours truly.
SOG Fo1T Tactical. I love the smell of carbon steel in the morning. The F01T is based on Vietnam-era anti-foliage tools, so it’s perfect for hacking at that tree in your backyard. Watch for mantraps.
Best Made Company “Hudson Bay”. Best Made are the guys who started the whole artisanal tools thing (yes, it’s really a thing). Their axes are purely decorative, but worthy of a very tasteful Paul Bunyan.
Z-Saw Cross Cut Blade. OK, OK, not technically an ax, but the this Japanese tool is arguably the most useful of this list. A special “puff” handle gently blows away sawdust so you can see what you’re doing. Measure twice. Cut once. Blow never.
