HOW TO GET BY WITHOUT A PRINTER/SCANNER/COPIER ON YOUR DESK

Printers are the worst. They have a big desktop footprint, their toner refills are expensive, and 97% of the time they prefer to send you error messages rather than print things. Smarter Upstarter tips his cap to a couple of tools I use regularly, tools whose mission it is to make us less reliant on the printer/scanner/copier/slicer/dicer.
HelloFax—A client sends you a contract to sign. Instead of printing it out and faxing back, just upload it to HelloFax. Simply add your signature (just by snapping a photo of it with your phone), place that signature on the doc, and email it back to the client straight from the web. HelloFax saves your signature for future drag and droppage.
Smartphone Scanning—iPhones and Androids have powerful cameras, and you can use them to do the same thing your scanner does. For iPhone, give TurboScan a try. For Android, WIRED recommends Droid Scan.
