CHECK-IN WITH YOUR FACE

The world is coming to an end! Not really, but privacy is on its way out in a big way. Please say hello to Big Brother, otherwise known as Facedeals. It takes what’s cool about Foursquare (checking in and getting deals) and mixes it with what’s bad about Facebook (everyone knowing everything about you).
With your permission, the Facedeals app connects to your Facebook account to view your photos and your “likes.” When you walk in the door of a business with a Facedeals camera (equipped with facial recognition technology), Facedeals will automatically check you in and text a deal to your smartphone.
In a Facedeal world, there would be no need for Groupon or Restaurant.com gift certificates because patrons would always be rewarded. I see two problems here: one, businesses will need to offer deals probably more than they’re used to and two, people will have to totally give up privacy for the sake of a few bucks. Will you sign up?
