TAKE THE OATH, MEN OF THE INTERNET
Read this sad article the other day about the pathetic, continuing harassment female techies get. It’s only slightly better than what happens to female gamers.
Is this really the best we can do, men? What makes me mad is that tech and gaming are supposed to be the parts of society that are forward thinking, where new ideas and thoughts are to grow and take root in the mainstream, not where tired, idiot concepts like sexism continue to flourish as if it were the 18th Century.
So I propose something else. I propose The Oath. Raise your hand from your mouse and repeat after me, if you are brave enough:
I, Man of the Internet, do solemnly swear to respect all users and sentient thinkers of all domains, regardless of gender, and to offer intelligent criticism based on said domains solely on the merits of the ideas and arguments in question. So help me, Neil deGrasse Tyson.
Take the Oath. Tell your friends. And follow it. This is ridiculous, people.
