How do you Google? Say you’d like to watch Bill Clinton’s speech from last week’s Democratic National Convention. Would you type “Bill Clinton Convention Speech”? Or “Democratic Convention Clinton Speech”? Or just “Bill Clinton DNC”? All of these will get you what you’re looking for, but for me, only the last query brought up the YouTube clip of Bubba’s speech as the first result.
The truth is that most of us aren’t all that great at Googling stuff. Word choice obviously matters. But so does word order, and a whole host of other things I never even thought of.
