UPLOAD YOUR PROFILE PIC TO THE ENTIRE INTERNET AT ONCE

Some of my favorite startups are the ones solving small, everyday problems. Take our situation in the above picture, for example. You’re trying out a new web service that you came across, and all of a sudden the signup process comes to a screeching halt when you’re asked to upload a profile pic. I never know where my standard mugshot is, so I have to head to Facebook, save my mugshot from there, etc.
Gravatar thought it would be way cooler if everyone just had a globally-recognized avatar (a “gravatar”) that followed them around the web. “Simple, portable, and supported by a kajillion blogs and websites”, Gravatar lets you upload a profile pic once, and then installs it in new profiles you create, even including a bit of extra info such as a short bio and social media links. They should get the US State Department onboard so we don’t have to get passport photos made anymore.
