VOICE TEXTING

Beep. Buzz. Whistle. It’s the simple sound of yet another SMS text. Don’t get me wrong, text messaging can be great, but there’s something profoundly uncouth about a “yo were U at letz go get drnks lol.” But then again, what are the alternatives? I don’t want to have to place a call for every little offer. This isn’t 1988.

What about something in between? Voice texting apps like Zello or Voxer turn your smartphone into, essentially, a walkie-talkie. Download the app, link up with your friends, and then just push the big button to talk. Your buddy hears your manly voice within moments, careful inflections and all. Turn the app off when you don’t want to be disturbed (and switch to push notifications instead, if desired). You can also create or subscribe to channels and connect to users globally.

It can be strangely addicting. Voice texts can be faster, more clear, and more fun than simple text. It’s yet more proof that we live in the future. Read more about voice texts here.
