THE NEW TABLET ON THE BLOCK

No, I’m not talking about the Kindle Paperwhite–-although Amazon’s latest release does look awesome. Nor am I alluding to the rumored iPad mini that has a 30 percent chance of being announced at today’s Apple event. I’m here to share one new surprise addition into the tablet marketplace: Toys”R”Us.
At $150, the Android tablet, called Tabeo, is cheaper than “adult” tablets and even undercuts popular gaming consoles like Nintendo’s 3Ds. The device is wi-fi enabled and comes pre-loaded with 50 apps – both educational and fun – including the likes of Angry Birds and Temple Run.
Hmm… Toys”R”Us might be onto something here. Nothing makes me cringe more than seeing a three-year-old in a stroller banging away on an iPad. (DEAR GOD DON’T DROP IT ON THE PAVEMENT.) Read more about the Tabeo at WIRED’s GadgetLab.
