LIKE AN IPHONE ON WHEELS

When it comes to disrupting the auto industry, startups are on the case. You’ve got Getaround, ZimRide, and others disrupting the concept of car ownership, Uber disrupting the concept of taxis, and Sidecar possibly disrupting the concept of Uber. What we don’t have are companies innovating in automotive design. Yes there’s Tesla, but that’s still largely for wealthy eccentrics looking to score eco-cred and drive a sports car at the same time.

For a startup that’s really taking a crack at it, check out Lit Motors. Recently featured at the TechCrunch Disrupt conference, Lit’s C-1 model is a gyroscopically-stabilized (think Segways) mashup of a motorcycle and a car. It’s fully electric, voice-activated, smart-phone integrated, and not at all priced to sell. Yet. But take a look at the demo video and tell me you’re not thinking “I wanna try that.”
