KICKSTARTER, VISUALIZED

Image via Things We Start

If you follow @WiredInsider on Twitter then you’re probably familiar with Kickstarter of the Week, a regular Smarter Upstarter tweet highlighting a notable KS project. This week I’ll do you one better by introducing you to Things We Start. Founded by a diverse group of community enthusiasts, Things We Start is a power tool for people searching for Kickstarter projects in their community.

Using Google Maps and Kickstarter data, TWS shows you a map of the US, dotted with a heat map of Kickstarter activity. Zoom into your area to see the location of specific projects, and refine your search by choosing topic filters. You can even sign up for project alerts, and TWS will notify you when, say, a new photography project just popped up in your ‘hood. The lesson, as always: The Internet is Amazing.
