THE SIMPLEST DIY HOME UPGRADES

Image via donjd2

With a new home purchase under my belt, I’m so ready to tackle my obscenely long to-do list of DIY projects. As it turns out, our sellers were happy with a boring, basic home – or they were just too lazy to take on a project. Here are a few small home upgrades you can easily tackle before the holidays:

Change the Lighting

I’m not going to settle for complete darkness or shocking brightness in the family room. Not cool. Light dimmers, here I come. Not as cheap of a project as you’d think, but easy to do.

Change the Color

Talk about a dramatic difference. It will take an afternoon, but there’s no question here – you can do this yourself. Especially if you read these 13 painting secrets the pros won’t tell you.

Change the Hardware

With a screwdriver and a handful of accessories, you can re-do your entire home. Closet knobs, drawer pulls, light switch plates, light switches, floor registers and grilles, and more are affordable and easy to upgrade.
