I’d like to go back in time a couple of weeks. Nothing crazy, no adventures back to the
Fifties to save my parents marriage or anything like that. Just take me back to the tranquil days before I discovered Bitcoin, the hottest name in digital currency. I’d bet $5 (roughly 35 Bitcoins) that many of you have heard of it now too, with both Slate and Gizmodo doing stories last week. Why is Bitcoin stressing me out?
Every week we’re presented with opportunities to become early adopters of the next big thing: Quora, SCVNGR, Color, Yobongo, and on and on. Typically you just wait and see if it catches on, then dive in when you’re ready. But with Bitcoin, early adopters stand to actually profit from adopting early. There’s cash involved! Come on, internet. We just got done with Rapture 2011. Now you’re telling me I’ve got to prepare for a new world order of universal finance? Where’s my DeLorean.
