Technology: Right on Track or Not There Yet?

Every day, there’s a new twist on technology that blows my mind. It pushes boundaries, makes life easier, or is just plain cool. We may soon be able to pay with our names at the checkout line, vacation in space, or get awed by more performances like Beyonce’s video-tastic Billboard Music Awards extravaganza.
Because we’re so smart—I mean, we’re making computers that fit in the palms of our hands for the love of Jobs—there are a few futuristic things that I was really expecting by now. Here are IT Girl’s requests:
- Flying cars. If we can fly to the moon, we can fly to the grocery store, right?
- Hover boards. Back to the Future 2 takes place in 2015 and those kids hover everywhere. We have four years left to figure it out.
- Teleportation. I’ll take this over flying cars or a trip to space any day.
Cell phones that actually get reception all the time and worldwide, speedy wireless Internet would also be nice. Also, a cure for cancer. Let me know if you have any questions.
